Privacy Policy

Promate ("Promate", "we", "us") provides a browser extension and related services that help you write personalized professional outreach messages. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions? Email hello@promateai.com.

1. What we collect

• Account information: your email address (and password, stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
• Content you create: your "About You" sender profiles, the messages you generate and choose to save, and any templates you create.
• Usage data: counts of messages generated (to apply your plan's limits) and basic product analytics.
• Payment information: if you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.

2. What we do NOT do

• We do not scrape LinkedIn or build a database of the people you message.
• We do not read profiles in bulk or in the background — only the single profile you are actively viewing, and only when you ask.
• We do not send messages, connect, or take any action on your LinkedIn account. Promate generates text; you send it.
• We do not sell your personal information.

3. How profile text is used

When you click "Read this profile," the extension reads the publicly visible text on the profile you are viewing and sends it, along with your "About You" context, to our secure server, which calls a third-party AI model (Google Gemini) to generate a message. The recipient's profile text is used to produce that one message; it is not stored as a separate record. If you keep a generated message in your history, the message text you saved is stored in your account.

4. Service providers (subprocessors)

• Supabase — authentication, database, and serverless functions (data hosting).
• Google (Gemini API) — AI text generation.
• Stripe — subscription payments.
• Vercel — hosting of this website.

5. How we use your data

To provide and operate the service, generate messages, apply plan limits, process payments, provide support, and improve the product. We rely on your consent and our legitimate interest in operating the service.

6. Data retention & your rights

We keep your data while your account is active. You can edit or delete your content in the product, and you may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing hello@promateai.com. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and isolated per-user with database row-level security. AI keys and other secrets are stored server-side and are never included in the extension.

8. Storage in your browser

The extension stores your login session and local counters (such as "time saved") in your browser's local storage so the product works smoothly. You can clear these by removing the extension.

9. Children

Promate is intended for professionals and is not directed to anyone under 18.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; we will post the new date here and, for material changes, notify you in the product.

Promate is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by LinkedIn, Google, or Stripe. This document is provided as a starting point and should be reviewed by your legal counsel before launch.
